As an Associate Instructor (100 hr level), you are:

empowered to teach the three Core Forms of the Templestyle system, as well as numerous auxiliary practices.

guided through a sequential "inner alchemy" process of deepening your practice,

and are introduced to the principles that underly the practices of Qigong and Inner Yoga.
How it works:
This is an intermediate and advanced training that proceeds in distinct stages. The first stage is to complete the 'Alchemical Immersion 108' course. This gives prospective instructor-candidates a taste for the lineage and the instructional style (next Alchemical Immersion group begins April '22) .
The next step is to participate in the Mastery Path Immersion, which forms the heart of this certification. The 6 core modules build upon the foundation constructed in the Alchemical Immersion program, and "pulls back the curtain" on how the qigong is actually working!
In the Spring and Fall, students participate in live, in-person retreats. The Autumn retreat is on the subject of Daoist Meditation, and in Spring we study the Templestyle Energy Healing curriculum. These in person trainings allow students to receive hands-on guidance and in the moment feedback.
Candidates are guided month by month with a one-on-one phone meeting with the head instructor, Rev. Fa Jun. This is time to ask specific questions, troubleshoot, and get the most out of your unique and individual path!
After the Mastery Path Immersion, instructor candidates take the two final modules called the "Dao of Prosperity", and the "Instructor's Completion Course".
If all homework assignments, practice logs, and mentorship sessions have been completed, the candidate will be awarded level one certification in good standing with their commitment to follow the Code of Ethics.
Students can take up to Three Years to complete this coursework after stating their intention to begin. The ideal timing is to complete all modules, retreats, and mentorship sessions within a 12-18 month period, and this is the schedule on which the certification is designed.
A Qigong Certification Suited to Our Unique Times
In ancient times, only a select few might be chosen to carry lineage teachings and have the privilege of sharing them with others. The idea was to safeguard the wisdom traditions against becoming diluted, and in some cases against persecution!
In modern times we face a different situation: poor health, loneliness, lack of meaning, and stress afflict people of every background. These are the exact challenges for which this inner work was created.
It is time for sacred teachings to come forth from the hermitage and benefit beings far and wide!
In order to facilitate the transmission of lineage teachings with a high degree of integrity, the Templestyle certification programs use testing, one on one mentorship, and live group training to make sure you've got it - can perform the practices properly, and transmit them!
In the process, we remove the guess-work that is so often present in traditional learning environments. You don't have to be a favorite, or part of the in-club, you just have to do the work and pass your tests! In this way, we hope to bring the best of the Western, egalitarian ideals of education and fuse it with the best that alchemical traditions have handed down carefully from master to apprentice.
Each person's walk is unique in this life, and this is why direct mentorship is part of the program. There is no cookie-cutter road to Qigong mastery, there's only the road that you're on. The role of the mentor is to help you get your foot squarely onto the path! By combining standardized thresholds for all, with unique training just for you. We can come to embody these ancient traditions even in the midst of our modern world!
What does this training do for me?
Put simply, the Templestyle Qigong Instructor Certification enables you to benefit yourself and others more deeply than ever before!
It does this by walking you through a traditional course of training in the mind-body connection through Daoist and Buddhist Qigong practices. In the journey of self-discovery, you gain the tools to lead others along their path of mastery through leading qigong classes and exercises.
The level one certification is designed around getting a person started in teaching qigong - in a classroom, a park, a dojo, or temple. In addition to formal class scenarios, qigong exercises are also taught by acupuncturists and bodyworkers to their clients, vocal coaches to their students, meditation teachers to their retreatants, and in many other learning environments.
In this course, you become authorized to teach 3 spheres of lineage practice. These are:
- Three traditional qigong "sets" - the 'Master's Sequence', the Wu Zhang Dao Yin, and the Ba Duan Jin
- Numerous "out of pocket" exercises for specific symptoms, meridians, and situations
- Daoist and Buddhist meditations including "Song Gong", the "Inner Smile", Breathing exercises for tonifying and purging the inner organs with sound and light, standing meditations, and Wuji-mindfulness meditation.
This forms a well rounded "utility belt" of practices one is empowered to teach, and gives the instructor the ability to mix and match traditional forms and meditations to create an engaging qigong class and unique recommendations for a specific students' needs.
In later levels of certification, instructors can both broaden and deepen their knowledge through further traditional practices and applications.
